B2 Flying Wing Project

B2 Flying Wing Project

We took on the challenge of designing and analyzing a flying wing aircraft, modeled after the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit stealth bomber. The goal was to explore its low-drag potential and structural performance. Using a hybrid Dolphin Fin/Reflexed airfoil and PLA for 3D printing, we built a lightweight model with an I-beam spar to handle the load. Key Achievements: • FEM analysis showed a solid factor of safety (7-8) • CFD analysis confirmed low drag (0.003 lbf) • Achieved modest lift (0.0073 lbf) at 25 fps Skills: Solidworks, FEM Analysis, CFD Analysis, 3D Printing
